The Awakening

The crosstalk concerning current news reports subsided as I paused beside the circle of somber faces. Without hesitation the question was asked, "Terry, are you worried about this new Omicron virus?" "That depends on where I choose to dwell." My response caught the attention of the group, pulling forth words of one voicing likely thoughts of all, "What do you mean by that?" "'He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.' If you haven't read it lately, then I suggest you read the ninety-first chapter of Psalms. It may offer you a hopeful perspective as you listen to the news. We can discuss this later if you are interested, but I am on my way to see someone now." My words were ready because I had just been reading Psalm 91 in contemplation of our world's continuing battle with covid viruses. Through the opening crowd she saw the man everyone wanted to see. The church leader spoke with him and they began to walk. She thought about the potential of this man's power. Seizing the opportunity, she lunged forward as the two men passed and touched the edge of a garment. The effect was immediate! The story of this woman's healing may be found in Mark 5:21-34. She believed the stories told about the touch of Jesus on people's lives. Many of these accounts were of...
