Getting Back From the Land of Make Believe
People are inclined to believe what supports their preconceived opinions despite the absence of foundational facts. Media pundits have become proficient at twisting truth to fit their narrative. This has been a recurring problem since man began exchanging God's truth for a lie. "Professing to be wise, they became fools." [see Romans 1:18-25] Knowing this, it is possible to understand how the torrent of negativism has flooded the world. Television, music, movies, and Internet are abiding influences that shape thoughts and opinions. Media output has become a barrage promoting lifestyles and values in opposition to Biblical principles. It can be difficult for a Christian to maintain balance against the pull of an overwhelming tide. Some Christians cease to resist and choose to drift with the current of popular opinion, but "no one can serve two masters" Matthew 6:24.
