Pulling Back the Curtain
Some of you may have wondered what happened to me since I have not posted
anything since January 8. At first I became sick and was down for a week with a
pretty bad cold. Then as I was feeling better I developed a fever and was given
a rapid test for Covid-19. It was positive. I was somewhat surprised since I
had my second Moderna vaccine last April. For the next few days I had
difficulty getting through my usual daily routine. Gradually I began to feel
better, but there were difficulties with my concentration and thought
processes. Not having read or heard anything about this possible aspect of
Covid-19 left me unprepared and scared about my ability to communicate
effectively.
When I began writing this blog on July 4, 2021, my intentions were to just
share personal thoughts and reflections on various Bible passages with the hope
of encouraging others. Initially I neglected to share personal life details
that I didn't think were relevant to my writing. I was wrong! I discovered that
holding back part of my life was limiting my writing. I am sorry about not
being completely open from the beginning.
My number is 281141. I am a prisoner at the Washington State Corrections
Complex in Monroe, Washington. I am in my forty-first year of a life without
parole sentence for a double homicide during the course of a commercial
burglary. Some of you are already aware of this. Carolyn and I will celebrate
our fifty-second anniversary next month. I do not have access to the internet,
but I am able to send and receive email through JPay.com, a service provider
for prison systems.
This is my only recourse for sending my writing out for posting to blog. The
process involves more than typing text directly into blog. I type out a hard
copy on my Smith Corona Office 2000 portable typewriter. I then must enter text
into a seven inch tablet which gets sent as an email to Carolyn. After any
necessary edits or changes, Carolyn makes a file copy and pastes final draft
into blog.
When it comes to blog design and setup I must use phone to walk Carolyn through
certain steps since this is not her bailiwick. The twenty minute limit on phone
calls doesn't help matters nor the fact that I cannot view a web page. My blog
setup knowledge comes from a book, but we manage to stumble through the basics.
I am hoping to have site more user friendly in conjunction with opening of
second blog designed to touch more on positive prison topics. I wish for this
site to remain focused on spiritual matters.
It is my prayer that God will intercede to prevent future interruptions of
regular postings. I welcome any comments or suggestions.
Knowing your story is helpful. I get to see how God can take difficult situations and use them to encourage others. Seeing two people that have gone through this shows a glimpse of just how loyal and helpful God is to us.... also it shows that though the surroundings are difficult He always makes a way. Or in other words the darkness may try to snuff out the light but the light will always find a way through. I'm glad that you have been spending time receiving the light from Jesus so that it can be reflected and seen clearer amidst the darkness. Stars shine brightest on the darkest nights. Stay hopeful and stay very close to Jesus... i hope you can read ministry of healing by Ellen White. Much love
